A former adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Aliyu Audu, has explained why he left the ruling APC government ahead of the 2027 elections. According to him, his decision is part of a bigger plan to fight against President Tinubu’s re-election.
Audu shared his views during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Monday. He said he left because he believes Nigeria needs a leader who is focused on fairness, accountability, and inclusion. He added that he no longer supports Tinubu’s bid to stay in power beyond 2027.
He went on to criticise the current administration, saying it puts personal and political interests before the good of the entire country. In his view, national unity is being ignored under the current leadership.
Audu also accused the government of failing to deliver on its promises. He pointed out that many of the things Tinubu promised Nigerians before the 2023 election have not been fulfilled.
“This is about standing for something bigger than myself,” he said. “I still believe Nigeria can be fixed, and loyalty should be for the country and its people, not just for one man.”
He also brought up President Tinubu’s political past, reminding Nigerians how Tinubu once stood up to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s control of the Southwest in the early 2000s. Now, Audu claims Tinubu is using the same type of political power play he once fought against.
Audu ended the interview with a bold statement: he promised that President Tinubu would be voted out in 2027, and a true leader chosen by the people will take over.
