There was panic in a community in Delta State when kidnappers attacked a house and took away two people — a lawyer and an engineer.
The incident happened on Friday. The kidnappers have warned that if their demands are not met quickly, they will harm or possibly kill the two men.
The lawyer, Emeka Irogboli, was kidnapped along with a solar panel engineer who works for him. Both of them were taken from Emeka’s house by armed men suspected to be kidnappers.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu shared the news on Facebook. He said the kidnapping happened in Ibusa, near Admiralty Drive in the Oshimili North area of Delta State.
In a video update, Gwamnishu said the lawyer’s house is far away from the town and located in a bushy area, which made it an easy target for the kidnappers.
According to sources, the kidnappers are demanding ₦100 million as ransom. Negotiations are still ongoing between the kidnappers and those trying to help the victims.
When the police were contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the police are aware of the situation and are currently working on it.
This sad event has raised more concerns about safety and security in Delta State.
