Police arrest 11 of rival gangs who allegedly robbed, looted shops in Kano

The Kano State Police have arrested 11 young men involved in a violent fight between rival gangs on Tuesday night.

The clash took place in the Medile and Sheka neighborhoods, where the fight became serious and knives were used. After the fight, some shops were broken into and goods were stolen.

On Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that 11 suspects have been caught so far.

According to a police statement, “The Kano State Police Command arrested 11 suspects connected to a violent event that happened on May 26, 2025, around 10:00 pm in Medile Quarters. The suspects were armed with dangerous weapons. They attacked and injured innocent people and robbed them of their belongings.”

The police also named those arrested: Aliyu Ibrahim (21), Abubakar Ya’u (18), Ibrahim Kaulayi (19), Ibrahim Murtala (18), Abba Musa (27), Muhammad Dawud (19), Abdullahi Ibrahim (38), Jibril Abubakar (22), Salim Musa (20), Zaharaddin Ismail (20), and Abubakar Hassan (44).

The Kano police thanked the community for their support and urged everyone to continue helping them protect lives and property.
