The head coach of Ghana’s Black Stars, Otto Addo, has picked 23 players to play in the Unity Cup tournament in London. This tournament will bring together some strong teams, and Ghana is ready to compete.
Among the players chosen, four are from clubs in Ghana. These home-based players are Benjamin Asare from Hearts of Oak, Razak Simpson from Nations FC, Kamaradini Mamudu from Medeama SC, and Kwame Opoku from Asante Kotoko. It’s great to see local players getting a chance to show their skills on an international stage.
Coach Addo also gave some new players their first chance to join the team. This is because some regular players cannot play due to injuries or commitments with their clubs. It’s a good opportunity for fresh talent to step up and prove themselves.
Some players who have played for Ghana before will also return to the team. These include midfielder Abdul Samed Salis from Sunderland, forward Felix Afena-Gyan, and Majeed Ashimeru from Anderlecht. Their experience will be important for the team’s success.
All the selected players are expected to join the team camp starting Monday. The team will prepare well for the upcoming matches.
Ghana will face Nigeria at the GTech Community Stadium in West London on Wednesday, May 28. The winner of this game will move to the final match, which will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
Besides Ghana and Nigeria, Jamaica’s Reggae Boys and Trinidad and Tobago’s Soca Warriors will also compete in this special invitational tournament. It promises to be an exciting competition.
Ghana’s team is ready to work hard and aim for victory. Fans will be watching closely to see how the Black Stars perform in this tournament.
