The Naira went down a bit in value compared to the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday.
According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the exchange rate on Thursday was N1,584.95 for one dollar. This was a small drop from the N1,584.49 rate recorded the previous day.
This means that in just one day, the Naira lost about 46 kobo against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, in the black market, the Naira’s rate didn’t change. It stayed at N1,625 for one dollar—the same rate as the day before.
A currency dealer, Abubakar Alhasan, who operates in Wuse Zone 4, Abuja, confirmed the rate. He said that they were buying dollars at N1,615 and selling at N1,625 on Thursday.
Even though the Central Bank Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, has been working to keep the Naira stable, the exchange rate continues to move up and down.
