PDP crisis: We’ll throw troublemakers out of party by 27 May – Bode George

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has warned that anyone who refuses to follow the party’s rules will be removed. Chief Bode George, a senior leader in the party, said this tough decision will be made during the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting later this month.

According to George, many politicians in the PDP only care about their own personal benefits and forget about the needs of the people they represent. He believes this attitude has weakened the party and moved it away from its true purpose.

Speaking on a TV program called Sunday Politics, George said the NEC is ready to take strong action to bring the PDP back to the way it was when it was first created. He said democracy means using the country’s resources to help everyone, not just a few people looking out for themselves.

George also said that on May 27, the NEC will meet behind closed doors to have an honest discussion. He explained that those who do not obey the party’s rules can be removed from the PDP. The NEC has the power to make this decision and wants to remind everyone of the original values the party was built on.

The PDP has had a hard time since the 2023 elections. Instead of being a strong opposition to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the party has been divided by internal fights. Some members complain that the PDP has not punished people who openly support the APC while still staying in the party.

For example, a former governor and minister, Nyesom Wike, recently said he will stay in the PDP but plans to support President Tinubu’s reelection in 2027. This shows the kind of problems the party is facing.

The PDP’s leadership wants to fix these issues by cleaning up the party and making sure all members follow the rules. This could help the PDP become a stronger and more united party again.
