Wayne Rooney shared his thoughts after Barcelona were knocked out of the Champions League by Inter Milan. The former Manchester United star said Barca ran out of ideas in the final moments of the match.
Both teams played an exciting 3-3 draw in the first leg of their semi-final in Spain. This set the stage for a thrilling second leg on Tuesday.
Inter Milan started strong and quickly scored two goals—one from Lautaro Martinez and another from a Hakan Calhanoglu penalty. This gave them the early advantage.
However, Barcelona responded well. They scored three goals through Eric Garcia, Dani Olmo, and Raphinha, taking the lead and raising hopes of making it to the final.
But just when it looked like Barcelona would win, Inter Milan’s Francesco Acerbi made it 3-3, leveling the tie once more. In extra time, Davide Fratessi scored the winning goal, calmly finishing to seal the victory for Inter.
Speaking after the match on Amazon Prime, Rooney said that once Inter got their equalizer, they looked like the better side. He added that Barcelona lost their creativity toward the end and couldn’t find a way to respond.
Rooney also praised Inter goalkeeper Yann Sommer for his key saves, saying they were crucial for the team’s win.
