Fears of war as India bombed Pakistan and Pakistan has vowed to retaliate (videos)

Tensions have grown between India and Pakistan after India carried out airstrikes on areas in Kashmir controlled by Pakistan.

Pakistan has claimed it shot down two Indian fighter jets in response to the strikes.

This military action follows a deadly attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed many people. India blames Pakistan-backed militants for the violence.

According to Pakistan’s military, India’s strikes led to the deaths of two civilians in Kotli and a child in Bahwalpur, both areas within Pakistan-administered regions.

India says the strikes were meant to punish those behind a brutal attack that killed at least 26 people in the tourist town of Pahalgam on April 22.

That attack took place in Baisaran, a scenic spot near Pahalgam, where militants reportedly opened fire on tourists.

Some witnesses said the attackers seemed to be targeting Hindu men in particular.

While Pakistan denies having any connection to the attack, Indian police say two of the suspected attackers were Pakistani nationals.

As the conflict deepens, both countries have started taking harsh steps against each other, such as closing their borders and halting a key water-sharing agreement.

There have also been reports of soldiers from both sides firing small weapons across the border.

Speaking to Geo TV, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said that India fired missiles from within its own territory.

He also claimed that Indian missiles hit civilian areas and rejected India’s claim that they targeted “terrorist camps.”

Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry added that 12 more people were hurt in the Bahwalpur area, based on reports from Pakistan’s Geo News.
