Former Argentina coach Jorge Sampaoli has suggested that French superstar Kylian Mbappe isn’t feeling at ease at Real Madrid.
Sampaoli pointed out that Mbappe seems to be struggling to play his best game because of his teammate, Vinicius Jr.
He explained that Mbappe is unable to play in his preferred central attacking role. Since Vinicius dominates the left wing, Mbappe doesn’t have much room to express his usual style.
In a conversation with SPORT, Sampaoli noted that Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has limited Mbappe’s effectiveness by using him in a less natural position. He believes the former PSG striker isn’t playing like the confident player fans saw during his time at Monaco or in the World Cup.
“Vinicius is already settled at Real Madrid,” Sampaoli said. “Mbappe doesn’t look comfortable. He seems unsure about how to attack from that role.”
While acknowledging that Mbappe has still managed to score key goals, Sampaoli insists he’s not performing at the same level he did for France or during the Qatar World Cup.
Adding to this, journalist Anton Mena recently shared on Cadena SER that there seems to be a lack of chemistry between Mbappe and Vinicius on the pitch.
