Anambra security heads meet, fine-tune strategies over President Tinubu’s planned visit

Security chiefs in Anambra State held a crucial meeting on Monday to finalize safety plans ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the state on Thursday.

President Tinubu is set to embark on a one-day visit to Anambra, where he will officially open several projects initiated by Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration.

According to a statement from SP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, security agencies are working diligently to ensure a peaceful visit. On Monday, key security officials met behind closed doors for five hours to fine-tune strategies and coordination efforts.

Ikenga explained that the meeting, held on May 5th, 2025, focused on enhancing collaboration among security forces, planning for various scenarios, and updating intelligence information. The goal is to make sure everything is in place before the president’s arrival on May 8th.

He said detailed discussions included reviewing current intelligence, assessing potential threats, and setting up tight security across major parts of the state, especially the capital.

The security team’s preparations include deploying joint patrols, increasing surveillance, and improving communication between agencies. These measures are aimed at creating a secure and stable environment during the president’s visit.

Agencies present at the meeting included the Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, NSCDC, FRSC, and the Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (Rtd).

Ikenga concluded that this strong, all-around security plan reflects the state’s commitment to keeping the president, top officials, and citizens safe, while maintaining calm across Anambra.
