Air Peace stated on Saturday that it had no regrets about cancelling or delaying flights, as it prioritizes the safety of passengers and adheres to air safety standards.
In a statement issued by the airline’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ejike Ndiulo, in Lagos, Air Peace explained that the disruptions were due to safety concerns.
The airline clarified that when weather conditions, technical issues, or operational standards do not meet safety requirements, flights would not be carried out.
Air Peace emphasized that it is not their usual practice to delay or cancel flights without valid reasons, as these disruptions often cause financial losses for the airline.
It assured that safety would always come first and would never be compromised for the sake of convenience, comfort, speed, or profit.
The airline expressed its gratitude to the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) for its efforts in pushing for improvements in domestic airline operations and for ensuring that airlines follow international safety standards.
However, Air Peace clarified that it had a sufficient number of aircraft for daily operations, and that recent delays or cancellations were not related to a fleet shortage.
The airline mentioned that on Friday, one of its planes was grounded after suffering a bird strike, which damaged the engine while landing in Enugu.
The damaged aircraft was immediately taken out of service, as per safety protocols. The aircraft had been scheduled for multiple routes, and its unavailability led to further disruptions in the airline’s operations.
