17-year-old Quadri Yusuf Alabi, who became popular in 2023 after standing in front of Peter Obi’s convoy, has opened up about the terrible experience he faced while in prison.
In January 2025, Quadri was arrested by the police. They accused him of being involved in a street fight in Amukoko, Lagos. However, Quadri said he was innocent and was wrongly arrested.
He said he had just finished working as a motorboy for a fish delivery driver and was on his way home when police officers stopped him at the gate of his compound. Without any clear reason, they picked him up and took him to the station.
Quadri explained that he was the youngest among those arrested. While in prison, he said his duty was to clean faeces from the pit toilet every day, which was a very traumatic experience for him.
Speaking on Channels TV, Quadri said he just wants to go to school and is asking for support from kind Nigerians.
Thankfully, after his story was shared online by a young woman who wanted the public to help him, over N10 million has been raised so far to support him.
Quadri’s story is a sad reminder of what many young people in Nigeria go through, and how important it is for society to stand up and help those in need.
