2027: You lack credibility to speak for CPC bloc’ – APC Forum knocks Malami

The North-Central APC Forum has strongly criticized Abubakar Malami, Nigeria’s former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, saying he has no right to speak on behalf of the CPC bloc within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Malami had claimed that his group from the old Congress for Progressives Change (CPC), which was part of former President Buhari’s camp, is the only one that can decide if they would join an opposition alliance being formed by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

However, Tanko Al-Makura, former governor of Nasarawa State and leader of another CPC group, had earlier made it clear that their bloc supports President Tinubu and won’t join the opposition.

In response, the North-Central APC Forum praised Al-Makura’s position and said Malami doesn’t have the credibility to speak for the CPC bloc. According to the Forum, Malami’s past actions during Buhari’s time in office, including controversial decisions and failed policies, disqualify him from representing any respected political group.

They blamed Malami for giving poor advice that contributed to the failures of Buhari’s government. They also said he had a negative influence on the anti-corruption fight, especially during the appointment of Abdulrasheed Bawa as EFCC chairman.

The Forum accused Malami of being involved in harmful policies like the cash redesign that caused hardship for Nigerians. They also said Malami didn’t support Tinubu during the 2023 elections and may now be leaning toward the opposition because he didn’t get what he wanted.

They described Malami and his allies as selfish politicians who are upset they didn’t get positions in the new government. The Forum stressed that Tinubu won the last election without their support, so he doesn’t need them in 2027 either.

They praised Al-Makura for his honesty and role in forming the APC, pointing out that he was the only CPC governor at the time of the merger talks. Malami, they said, played no real part in those important discussions.

In conclusion, the Forum said Malami should focus on fixing his damaged image rather than trying to speak for people he doesn’t represent.
