A man named Samuel Kamau has been arrested for the r@pe and m8rder of two young women, Rosemary Njeri Ndekei, 22, and Hellen Wambui, 20, in Ngorongo village, Gatundu North Constituency, Kiambu County, Kenya.
Tragic Deaths in Kiambu County
The victims, Njeri and Wambui, were brutally attacked and killed in Ngorongo village. Kamau, who lived in the same neighborhood, is accused of the crimes and was arrested on April 16, 2025, in the ‘Dry’ area of Ngorongo.
Shocking Confession and Grim Details
Samuel Kamau confessed to committing the horrific crimes. In a disturbing revelation, he admitted to not only attending the victims’ funerals but also helping dig their graves.
Investigation Leads to the Suspect
After the first victim was killed, Kamau kept her smartphone and began using it. Detectives tracked the phone’s IMEI, which led them to him. Regarding the second victim, the suspect disposed of her phone in a pit latrine. Local youths assisted police in recovering it.
Victims’ Final Moments
Hellen Wambui, described as a quiet and God-fearing woman, went missing on March 30, 2025. She had been sent by her mother to withdraw money from an MPESA shop but never returned. Her body was found two days later, just a short distance from her home.
Rosemary Njeri was found dead in a coffee plantation. Her body had been burned with acid. She was last seen by her boyfriend, John Ndung’u Mwihaki, when he dropped her off to visit a friend in another town.
Legal Proceedings
The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged in court soon. Investigators noted Kamau’s lack of remorse, adding to the tragedy of the case.
