Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has signed a new two-year contract with the club, and manager Arne Slot suggested that money might have played a part in the decision.
Salah was close to the end of his contract and was expected to leave this summer, with many rumors linking him to a move to Saudi Arabia. But on Friday, Liverpool announced that the 32-year-old winger had agreed to stay until 2027.
When asked if he helped convince Salah to stay, Slot replied, “I was part of the talks, but I don’t deserve the credit. It was mainly Mo, his agent, and the club owners – and yes, that includes money!”
He laughed after his comment and added, “It also took effort. The good news is that Mo believes we can achieve more next season, and that’s why he stayed. That’s a big positive for the team.”
