UCL: ‘We were lucky it was only three’ – Bellingham on Real Madrid’s defeat to Arsenal

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham has admitted that his team was lucky not to lose by more than three goals after a tough night against Arsenal in the Champions League.

The first leg of the quarter-final was played on Tuesday night at the Emirates Stadium, and Arsenal came out strong. The Gunners beat Real Madrid 3-0 with a brilliant performance that left the Spanish side struggling to keep up.

Arsenal’s Declan Rice was the star of the match. He scored two amazing goals from free kicks in the second half. Then Mikel Merino added a third goal, making it a night to remember for Arsenal fans.

After the match, Bellingham didn’t hide how bad the game was for his team.

“We’re lucky to get away with only three,” he said. “We were nowhere near good enough. Arsenal played really well. Even though two of their goals were from free kicks, they could have scored more.”

Despite the loss, Bellingham reminded everyone that there’s still a second leg to play.

“There is a second leg and that’s what we’re holding on to,” he said, showing hope that Real Madrid can turn things around at home.

Real Madrid will now prepare for the return leg, where they’ll need a big performance to stay in the tournament.
