Rivers Emergency Rule: I Feel Depressed – Governor Fubara Says

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has shared his feelings of depression following the recent political crisis in the state. His reaction comes after President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency, leading to Fubara’s suspension for six months. During this period, a sole administrator will oversee the affairs of the state.

The crisis in Rivers State stems from the political conflict between Fubara and his former mentor and predecessor, Nyesom Wike. Wike, now the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been at odds with Fubara, leading to heightened tensions in the state.

While addressing a group of Muslim faithful who visited him for the Sallah celebration at his private residence, Fubara admitted that the situation has been emotionally challenging for him. He noted that people may not fully understand what he is going through but acknowledged that the crisis has had a significant impact on him.

The political turmoil in Rivers State has drawn national attention, with many citizens and political observers closely monitoring the unfolding events. The state of emergency and Fubara’s suspension have raised concerns about governance and stability in the region.

As the situation continues to develop, stakeholders are hopeful that a peaceful resolution will be reached to restore order in Rivers State.

“But in everything, we have decided to give glory to the Almighty God, so in this season of sharing, love, sacrifice, I want you people to know that I key into your period of festivals.

“You have said it already that our dreams and vision for this state is the society that no man should be oppressed.

“It’s a very important virtue in the cause of this struggle, please be patient and don’t allow anybody to push you into any form of provocation.

“What they want is to destroy this state, what they want is to create problem, and deny you that means of livelihood that you have here and we will not allow it.

“We will continue to operate in a peaceful manner and continue to respect every constituted authority to ensure that this state remains the envy of every other state in Nigeria.”
