Muslim leaders beg President Tinubu to review emergency rule in Rivers

Muslim leaders in Rivers State have called on President Bola Tinubu to review the emergency rule in the state and fully reinstate Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s authority. They believe that despite the ongoing political crisis, Governor Fubara has continued to govern effectively.

This appeal was made on Monday when a delegation of Muslim leaders visited Governor Fubara at his private residence in Port Harcourt as part of the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations. The delegation consisted of leaders from 20 Islamic groups, including the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs.

Speaking on behalf of the Muslim community, Alhaji Nasir Awhelebe Uhor reassured Governor Fubara of their unwavering support. He encouraged him to stay strong, emphasizing that challenges are part of leadership, just as taught in Islamic teachings about being tested through wealth, power, and authority.

The Muslim leaders expressed their hope that the federal government would consider their appeal and take necessary steps to restore stability in Rivers State.
