Billionaire Elon Musk is supporting a petition in Wisconsin that challenges what he calls “activist judges.” The petition asks voters to stand against judges accused of changing laws to fit political views. To encourage participation, Musk’s political group, America PAC, is offering $100 to Wisconsin residents who sign it.
America PAC, a pro-Trump organization, is backing conservative candidate Brad Schimel for the Wisconsin Supreme Court. The group is also running other campaigns that offer financial rewards, including a $1 million daily lottery for voters in key swing states.
Musk reposted the petition on his social media platform, X, urging people to support the cause. However, the Justice Department warned him in October that offering money for voter participation could break federal laws.
This effort comes as former President Donald Trump criticizes the judiciary, especially Judge James Boasberg, who ruled against his immigration policies. Trump even called for Boasberg’s removal, sparking pushback from the Supreme Court.
In December, Federal Election Commission filings showed that Musk, the world’s richest person, donated $238 million to America PAC, making him Trump’s biggest donor.
