A 32-year-old man from Guyana has been sentenced to one month in prison for assaulting his wife.

Kevin Roberts, a labourer from Queenstown, Essequibo Coast, was charged after attacking his wife, Annalisa Francis, on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

The Guyana Police Force confirmed the charge was filed under Section 21 of the Summary Jurisdiction Offences Act, Chapter 8:02.

Roberts appeared before Magistrate Tamieka Clarke at the Suddie Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, March 13, 2025. He pleaded guilty to the charge, and the court sentenced him to one month in prison.

Authorities continue to stress the importance of addressing domestic violence and ensuring justice for victims.
