Elon Musk has shown support for the idea of the United States leaving both NATO and the United Nations.
The billionaire entrepreneur reposted a message on X (formerly Twitter) that called for the US to withdraw from these organizations. The original post was made by political commentator Gunther Eagleman, who identifies as a “Proud America First MAGA Patriot.” Musk simply responded, “I agree.”
Musk also reshared a post from Republican congressman Thomas Massie, who described NATO as a “Cold War relic” that should be placed in a museum. His statement reflects the growing debate among some Republican lawmakers about whether NATO still benefits the US.
Utah senator Mike Lee, another critic of NATO, has argued that the alliance is outdated and benefits Europe more than America. He believes the US is getting a “raw deal” by staying in NATO.
Musk’s comments have added to the ongoing discussion about the US role in international alliances. With more political figures questioning NATO’s relevance, the debate is likely to continue.
