The Rivers State House of Assembly has told Governor Siminalayi Fubara that he must present the 2025 budget within 48 hours. This decision was made during a plenary session on Monday.

Security was tight at the Rivers House of Assembly Quarters as lawmakers gathered for the meeting. Speaker of the House, Martin Amaewhule, had earlier announced the session on Monday morning.

It is not yet clear how Governor Fubara will respond to the deadline, but the situation is being closely watched.
