Woo Tinubu to join PDP – Group challenges Wike

A political group, PDP Frontiers for Change and Progress, has asked the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to convince President Bola Tinubu to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The group said this would prove Wike’s loyalty to the party.

The group made this statement in Umuahia on Tuesday while responding to Wike’s alleged criticism of PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Adolphus Wabara. Wike reportedly disapproved of Wabara’s praise for Abia State Governor, Alex Otti’s achievements.

Speaking on the issue, the group’s National Coordinator, Emeka Ikpegbu, defended Wabara, saying he did nothing wrong by trying to encourage Governor Otti to join the PDP. Ikpegbu challenged Wike to go a step further and convince President Tinubu to switch to PDP if he truly supports the party.

“Wike should first bring his principal, President Bola Tinubu, into PDP before accusing others of anti-party activities. How can a former PDP governor and presidential aspirant serve as a minister in an APC government and still talk about party loyalty?” Ikpegbu asked.

The group urged Wike to stop attacking Wabara and PDP governors. It also praised the party’s leaders for taking a firm stance on the political crisis in Rivers State. Additionally, the group supported the confirmation of Sunday Ude-Okoye as PDP’s National Secretary, following a Court of Appeal judgment in Enugu.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, the group expressed optimism about PDP’s future. It encouraged party members to resist any attempts to weaken or intimidate those working to strengthen the party.
