Security forces in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have arrested Hamza Suruddubu, a well-known arms dealer accused of supplying weapons to terrorists operating in the region.
According to intelligence reports shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama, Suruddubu has been a major supplier of firearms in Eastern Sokoto.
He allegedly transported weapons from Zamfara State to terrorist strongholds, arming notorious bandits like Bello Turji, Boka, and Halilu Buzu.
Investigations show that Suruddubu was not only involved in arms trafficking but also provided terrorist groups with food and motorcycles. These supplies helped criminals sustain their activities, making security efforts more challenging.
Reports suggest that some security operatives in Shinkafi and Isa local government areas may be involved in the illegal arms trade.
This raises serious concerns about corruption within security agencies, which could be making it harder to combat terrorism.
Community leaders and security experts are urging law enforcement agencies to conduct a full investigation into Suruddubu’s network.
They want authorities to uncover the full scale of arms smuggling between Isa and Sabon Birni and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice.
