Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a leader in the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned President Bola Tinubu against allowing Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to be humiliated.
He argued that history will not be kind to Tinubu if he lets this happen, especially since Fubara showed him respect by withdrawing a legal counter-affidavit based on Tinubu’s peace efforts.
Eze heavily criticized some members of the Rivers State National Assembly Caucus, calling them “habitual adult bedwetters” who have lost their sense of duty.
He accused them of engaging in destructive politics rather than working for the progress of Rivers State.
Recently, the Rivers State National Assembly Caucus claimed that Governor Fubara was using legal experts to manipulate court rulings and sway public opinion in his favor.
Eze dismissed these accusations, calling the lawmakers a group of “political area boys” who are being used to destabilize the state for selfish reasons.
He reminded the legislators that their main role is to make laws, represent their people, and oversee government operations. Instead, he said they are focused on personal political battles rather than their responsibilities.
Eze also addressed the controversy surrounding the defection of some Rivers lawmakers led by Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule to the APC. He criticized them for still claiming their seats despite their defection, calling their actions dishonest and morally wrong.
He defended Fubara’s decision to withdraw his counter-affidavit in a case involving Amaewhule, explaining that it was part of the peace process initiated by Tinubu.
However, he lamented that other parties in the dispute refused to withdraw their legal actions, showing disrespect to both Tinubu and the elders who brokered the peace deal.
Eze warned Tinubu that if he allows Fubara to be punished for following his advice and respecting his authority, it would set a bad precedent.
He insisted that the lawmakers’ actions are driven by personal gain and that Tinubu’s legacy is at risk if he fails to intervene decisively.
As the crisis in Rivers State continues, all eyes are on Tinubu to see how he will handle the situation and whether he will ensure justice for Governor Fubara.
