There was a dramatic scene at the Anambra State High Court in Awka on Thursday, February 20, as one of the suspects in the case of a missing billionaire businessman was brought to court in an ambulance.
The court was hearing a case involving the disappearance of Benjamin Ezenma, also known as “Big Ben,” a well-known real estate developer and Vice-Chairman of Dubai Estate, Awka. He was last seen on November 12, 2024.
Three suspects—Ọzo Jeff Nweke, Tochukwu Nwokoye, and David Chukwuemeka Chinonso—were charged with conspiracy and kidnapping. The case was presided over by Justice Ike Ogu of the Awka Judicial Division.
Eyewitnesses were surprised when Jeff Nweke arrived in an ambulance. He had a neck brace on and a drip attached to his body. Court officials had to bring him out on a stretcher and wheel him into the courtroom.
Despite the dramatic entrance, all three defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. The case continues as the court seeks justice for the missing billionaire.
