USAID funds used to buy weapons for Boko Haram, ISWAP – Adamu Garba

Adamu Garba, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former presidential candidate, has echoed accusations that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is funding terrorist groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP.

Garba pointed out that funds from USAID are allegedly used to buy weapons for these terrorist organizations.

In a video posted on his social media account, Garba questioned how USAID spent $824 million in Nigeria in the previous year.

This came after a claim from U.S. Congressman Scot Perry, who alleged that USAID is funneling money to groups like Boko Haram, ISIS, and Al-Qaeda.

Perry had made these remarks during a session focused on improper use of taxpayer money, suggesting that $697 million in aid was funneled to these terrorist organizations.

He also highlighted the lack of records for $136 million used to build schools in Pakistan.

Garba responded by reiterating his belief that groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP receive weapons through the hidden funding of foreign entities, particularly USAID.

He pointed out that despite the large sum of $824 million, there was little visible impact in Nigeria, especially in areas like child care mortality and education. According to Garba, the money is being diverted to fund terrorism in Nigeria and the Sahel.

He emphasized that a U.S. Congressman had confirmed this information, and the revelations pointed to a wider issue of corruption.

Garba also expressed hope that more will be exposed in the future about African elites collaborating with criminals, leading to a potential reformation of the continent.
