Missing final year Kwara student found dismembered in home of Islamic cleric she met on Facebook

A shocking crime has been uncovered in Ilorin, Kwara State, as a missing final-year student, Lawal Hafsoh Yetunde, was found dismembered in the home of an Islamic cleric she met on Facebook.

The suspect, Abdulrahman Mohad Ballo, reportedly lured Yetunde after connecting with her on social media and getting her phone number.

Reports indicate that after she went missing, the police tracked her last call, which led them to the suspect’s residence in the Offa Garage area of Ilorin.

Yetunde, a student at Kwara State College of Education, was last seen on February 10, 2025, at a naming ceremony.

She left after receiving a call from a friend and never returned. Concerned family members reported her missing at the Oja-Oba Police Station on February 11.

When police questioned the suspect, he initially denied any involvement but later claimed she had died from an asthma attack.

However, during a search of his home, officers discovered Yetunde’s dismembered body inside a bowl, along with tools believed to be used in ritual killings.

Authorities suspect this may not be the cleric’s first crime, as they found other suspicious items in his room. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that updates will be provided as investigations continue. Meanwhile, Nigerians have taken to the cleric’s Facebook page, where he previously shared religious messages, to express their outrage.

This tragic case highlights the dangers of online interactions and the need for caution when meeting people through social media
