Nigerian actress Biodun Okeowo has opened up about the real reason she left Nollywood. In a recent Instagram post, she revealed that marketers forced her out of the industry due to her refusal to compromise her values.
Biodun, who recently got married to her US-based partner, Adeniyi Olabiyi, in July 2024, has been missing from the movie scene for years.
Fans have often wondered why she suddenly stopped acting, and she has now spoken out about her experience.
According to the actress, Nollywood marketers blacklisted her after she refused to meet their inappropriate demands.
She explained that they instructed producers to stop giving her roles and even removed her picture from movie posters where she played lead roles.
She said, “Marketers were the reason I left the industry after they blacklisted me for refusing to remove my panties. They did so much damage to my career that I eventually got tired of acting and walked away myself.”
Biodun Okeowo revealed that the challenges she faced in the industry made her lose interest in acting. She once loved her job, but the pressure and unfair treatment made her hate it.
Over time, she started rejecting movie roles and eventually quit the industry.
Despite the difficult journey, she remains grateful for where she is today. “That’s a story for another day, but God will judge evildoers. Thank God I’m a living testimony today! I’m doing extremely well.”
While she has left Nollywood, Biodun Okeowo is doing well in other areas of life. She continues to inspire fans with her success story, proving that one can rise above challenges and still thrive.
