Borno: Scores of terrorists killed as ISWAP, Boko Haram fighters clash in Northeast Nigeria

A deadly fight broke out between two rival terrorist groups, ISWAP and Boko Haram, in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria. The battle happened east of Mallam Fatori, near the Niger Republic border.

According to security expert Zagazola Makama, the violent clash left dozens of fighters dead, with many others badly injured. Reports say both groups suffered heavy losses as they fought for control in the area.

“The two factions have been in constant conflict over power and influence. This recent battle has further weakened them, as they lost many fighters and had their hideouts exposed,” Makama explained.

This comes shortly after ISWAP held a mass burial for its members killed in an airstrike by the Nigerian Air Force on March 19. The burial took place in the villages of Talwari and Muktari in Konduga Local Government Area.

Security experts believe that these ongoing clashes could reduce the strength of both groups, making it harder for them to operate.
