Conflict Is No Joke – Tems Writes As She Cancels Kigali Concert Over Rwanda’s Role In Congo Conflict

Tems, the Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, has announced the cancellation of her upcoming concert in Kigali, Rwanda, which was set for March 22, 2025, at the BK Arena. The reason for this decision stems from the ongoing violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where Rwandan-backed forces are involved in attacks.

The M23 rebel group, which is supported by Rwanda, has been intensifying its attacks in eastern DRC, resulting in many civilian casualties and large-scale displacement. The capture of Goma, a key city in the region, by the rebels was seen by the DRC government as a “declaration of war.”

Tems shared her thoughts on social media, showing solidarity with the victims of the violence. She made it clear that she stands against violence and human rights violations. The singer expressed hope for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict, sending her best wishes to those affected by the turmoil.

For fans who had already purchased tickets for the Kigali concert, Tems advised them to reach out to official ticket outlets for information on how to receive refunds.
