Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, has shared the reasons behind his regular visits to Abuja, explaining that these trips are vital for the progress of the state. He addressed the topic during a thanksgiving service marking the first anniversary of his second term in office at Maria Assumpta Cathedral, Owerri.
At the event, the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, His Grace Most Reverend Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, suggested that the Governor should focus on being more present in Imo State instead of spending much time in Abuja.
In response, Governor Uzodinma emphasized that Imo State is part of Nigeria, and for the state to fully benefit from the Federal Government, its leadership must maintain strong ties at the national level.
He further explained that his roles as Chairman of the APC Governors Forum and the South-East Governors Forum require frequent communication with federal authorities in Abuja. These responsibilities, he noted, make it essential for him to be actively engaged at the national level.
Governor Uzodinma also dismissed the idea that a leader’s success is based solely on how much time they spend in their home state. Instead, he argued that good governance involves using every opportunity, even outside the state, to improve the lives of the people.
Through his national engagements, Uzodinma reiterated his commitment to securing the best for Imo State and ensuring progress for its citizens.
