The Osun State Police Command has made significant arrests, including suspected cultists and thieves, after uncovering serious criminal activities in the state. Four individuals, suspected members of an illegal group, were apprehended for attempted murder and other crimes. The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Gbadamosi (32), Ibiyemi Saheed (27), Ayandiya Yusuf (30), and Ogunwole Najeem (30), were arrested by the police’s anti-cultism squad.

The investigation revealed that these suspects were involved in a violent crime spree. On November 12, 2024, they attempted to murder Samuel Friday in Iree town. Furthermore, on December 17, 2024, the suspects attacked staff at Osun State Polytechnic in Iree, blocking the main entrance and creating chaos. Tragically, one of the suspects, Ibrahim Gbadamosi, was later identified as the driver who struck and killed 46-year-old Toyin Adetunji with a car.

The police arrested the suspects on January 5, 2025, and recovered criminal charms and what appears to be cannabis sativa from their hideout.

In addition to the cult-related arrests, the police paraded four other individuals for theft, obtaining property under false pretenses, and conspiracy. The suspects – Adedayo Adesanya, Olansile Abdullateef, Olalere Gbenga, and Muftau Balogun – were found in possession of stolen items, including a Toyota Venza, bags of rice, yams, bananas, and various payment cards. The suspects have confessed to their involvement in these crimes and are set to face court charges once investigations are completed.

These arrests highlight the ongoing efforts of the Osun State Police Command to combat crime and ensure the safety of the public. The police are committed to bringing criminals to justice and putting an end to such illegal activities in the region.
