Every year on January 15, Nigeria observes Armed Forces Remembrance Day to honor soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect the country. This year, Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the families of these brave individuals.
The event, held at the trade fair complex in Gusau, highlighted the governor’s dedication. He donated N20 million to the Zamfara State Chapter of the Nigeria Legion and launched the 2025 remembrance emblem.
Governor Lawal inspected a guard of honor mounted by the Armed Forces and members of the Nigerian Legion. He also led the wreath-laying ceremony and observed a one-minute silence in memory of the fallen heroes.
The governor emphasized the importance of remembering those who gave their lives for Nigeria’s peace and sovereignty. He called on the people of Zamfara and all Nigerians to honor the sacrifices of these brave individuals.
“Armed Forces Remembrance Day is not only a tribute to our fallen heroes but also a call to action. We must support the families they left behind and appreciate the veterans who still live with the scars of their service,” Governor Lawal stated.
The governor further encouraged everyone to use this day as a reminder to work toward peace and unity while honoring the legacy of the nation’s veterans.
