Nigerian striker Gift Orban has made a move to Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim from French side Olympic Lyon. The transfer deal is worth €9 million, with an additional €3 million in possible add-ons.
The 22-year-old has had a tough season at Lyon, where he fell out of favor despite showing promise after his move from Belgian club Gent last year. Orban scored five goals in 21 appearances for Lyon but hasn’t featured in a league game since September.
Lyon expressed their good wishes for the forward in a farewell statement: “We wish Gift success in his new adventure.”
Hoffenheim, on the other hand, is excited about their new signing. Sporting director Andreas Schicker said, “In Gift Orban, we’ve found the fast striker we’ve been searching for. His skills will give our attack more variety, width, and speed.”
This transfer gives Orban a chance to revive his career and showcase his talent in one of Europe’s top leagues. Hoffenheim fans will be eager to see what he brings to their team in the second half of the season.
With his pace and goal-scoring ability, Gift Orban could become a key player for Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga.
