Fubara signs N1.1trn Rivers 2025 budget into law

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has signed the state’s 2025 budget into law, with a total value of N1.1 trillion. The governor expressed his gratitude to the Rivers State House of Assembly, led by Victor Oko-Jumbo, for their dedication and effective work in passing the budget. Fubara emphasized that the only valid House of Assembly in the state is the one led by Oko-Jumbo.

Last week, Fubara had presented the budget to the Assembly, and on Thursday, it was officially signed into law. During the ceremony, Fubara also addressed the defection of 27 members of the Assembly, including Martins Amaewhule, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Despite their recent attempt to backtrack, Fubara made it clear that they are no longer recognized as members of the Assembly.

Fubara stated that after allowing ample time for the group to reconsider their decision, the disqualification is now final. He also expressed his frustration, saying that no other governor in Nigeria has faced as much disrespect as he has. However, his focus remains on leading Rivers State towards continued success and development.

The N1.1 trillion budget covers all state expenses for the year, lasting until December 31, 2025, and is divided into 12 sections.
