The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents affected by ongoing road development projects that they will be treated fairly. He promised that those whose properties fall within the construction areas will be properly compensated.
During an inspection visit to the Judges Quarters in Katampe District and roads connecting RR1 and the Shehu Shagari Expressway, Wike addressed concerns about property removals. He emphasized the government’s commitment to adhering to due process.
“Relocation and compensation will be handled according to proper procedures. We will ensure that all affected residents are fairly compensated for their properties,” Wike stated.
The minister also appealed to the community to support the projects, highlighting the long-term benefits for everyone. He pointed out improvements already visible and encouraged residents to envision the fully completed project, which will include streetlights and better infrastructure.
“Imagine how it was before and see how it is now. When it’s finished, it will bring great benefits to the community,” he added.
When asked about his performance as minister, Wike declined to give a personal assessment, saying that the presidential monitoring team is responsible for evaluating his work. However, he expressed pride in the progress the government has achieved in the FCT.
These road projects aim to improve transportation and enhance the quality of life in the Federal Capital Territory. Residents are encouraged to cooperate as the government works to deliver these improvements.
