Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has signed the 2025 budget into law, totaling ₦375.7 billion. Known as the “Budget of Sustainable Impact,” this financial plan focuses on improving infrastructure, boosting agriculture, and creating opportunities for economic growth.

The budget, passed by the State House of Assembly, was signed during a ceremony at the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti. Key government officials, including Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye and Assembly members, were present.

The Governor thanked the legislators for their quick work on the budget, emphasizing that it will revitalize the state’s economy and align with his administration’s goals for shared prosperity. He highlighted that completing ongoing projects and initiating new ones are top priorities.

The 2025 budget reflects the Governor’s pledge to address key challenges, including:

  • Infrastructure Deficit: Completing essential projects to drive development.
  • Food Security: Supporting agriculture to ensure adequate food supply.
  • Economic Growth: Creating jobs and improving residents’ welfare.

Governor Oyebanji emphasized the importance of maintaining a January-to-December budget cycle, which ensures fiscal discipline and timely implementation.

The Governor described the budget as a result of extensive consultations with residents. He also praised lawmakers for their transparency, accountability, and commitment to Ekiti’s development during budget deliberations.

Governor Oyebanji thanked President Tinubu for reforms that have increased state revenues. These reforms, he said, have provided the resources needed to implement the 2025 budget successfully.

As the third budget signed by Governor Oyebanji, this document reaffirms the administration’s focus on sustainable development. Speaker Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye called the budget a “testament to Ekiti’s commitment to residents’ welfare and prosperity.”

With the signing of the “Budget of Sustainable Impact,” Ekiti State is set to achieve significant progress in the coming year, ensuring better lives for its citizens and a stronger economy.
