The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has honored Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree. This recognition was part of the institution’s 53rd convocation ceremony, celebrating Dr. Mbah’s contributions to education and his efforts to transform learning in Enugu State.

Speaking at the event, Governor Mbah reaffirmed his commitment to improving the education system. He emphasized the importance of providing young people with the tools they need to compete globally, saying, “Education is the best legacy we can leave for future generations.” He highlighted that his administration has devoted one-third of its budget to the education sector over two budget cycles.

Dr. Mbah also expressed gratitude to UNN’s Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Polycarp Chigbu, and the university’s governing council for the award. He pledged continued support to the university to help it achieve its mission of excellence.

During the ceremony, Prof. Chigbu announced that the university had graduated 11,143 students, including over 1,000 postgraduates. He also highlighted recent achievements, such as UNN’s top ranking in Nigeria for scholarly publications and significant improvements in infrastructure and energy systems.

The Vice Chancellor encouraged the graduating students to embody the university’s motto, “Restore the Dignity of Man,” as they move forward in their careers and lives.

Governor Mbah’s recognition underscores his administration’s dedication to education and its vision for a brighter future for Enugu State.
