As the Christmas and New Year holidays approach, Nigerian lawyer Stan Alieke is advising citizens to stay out of trouble and avoid getting arrested. Alieke, who also represents popular singer Speed Darlington, explained that courts will be closed for the holiday period starting next week. Most law firms will also be taking a break.
He warned that anyone arrested and detained during this time could end up spending the festive season in police custody. With the courts closed, people in custody may not be able to get bail or have their cases heard until after the new year when the courts resume.
To avoid this, Alieke urged Nigerians to be cautious and avoid any actions that could lead to arrest during the holidays.
