Wike Launches Construction of 15-Kilometer Road in Kwali Area Council

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has officially launched the construction of a 15-kilometer road in the Kwali Area Council. This new road will link the Abuja-Lokoja Expressway to the Pai Community, improving access for rural residents and bridging the gap between rural areas and the city center.

Barr. Wike explained that by improving infrastructure in rural areas, the FCT can reduce the disconnect between the city and surrounding communities, and discourage people from migrating to the city in search of better opportunities. He emphasized that the new road would also improve security in the region and enhance the living conditions for residents of the Pai Community.

The road project, known as the A2 to Pai road project, is expected to be completed by May of next year. Wike is confident that the contractor will meet the deadline and has promised adequate funding for the project.

During the flag-off ceremony, Wike recalled a recent visit to the Pai Community, where he noticed the lack of good roads and expressed concern about the area’s security. He pointed out that the absence of access roads had made the community vulnerable to insecurity. With the new road, along with other ongoing projects, the area will see over 30 kilometers of improved roads, significantly improving accessibility and security.

Wike also noted the importance of cooperation between the FCT Administration, Area Council Chairmen, and traditional rulers in fostering development in the FCT. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing essential infrastructure and services to the FCT’s rural areas as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda. This initiative aims to make rural communities feel more connected to the city by providing essential services like water and solar lights, as well as better roads.

“We are committed to completing every project we’ve started under the leadership of President Buhari,” Wike assured the community. “We won’t abandon any project.”
