The Rivers State Police Command has successfully taken down a notorious kidnapper and cult leader, Nkem ThankGod, popularly known as “2man.” This criminal was behind several heinous crimes, including the murders of four police officers, two Shell staff, a youth leader, and others in Rivers State.

Nkem, aged 42, was a key figure in the Greenlander Cult Group and hailed from Ogbologbolo Community in Ahoada West Local Government Area. His long list of crimes includes the 2021 murder of Okogbe Youth President, Christmas Ede, and multiple killings in 2024. He also kidnapped and killed two Shell staff, stole their vehicle, and murdered a spare parts dealer after collecting ransom.

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mustapha Mohammed Bala, disclosed during a press briefing on December 5, 2024, that the suspect was neutralized during an intelligence-led operation in Ahoada East Local Government Area. The operation took place while Nkem and his gang attempted another kidnapping. Though his gang members escaped with injuries, efforts are underway to track them down.

Nkem’s criminal activities stretched across kidnapping, armed robbery, carjacking, and vandalism. He was notorious for extorting ransoms and killing his victims. He also targeted police officers, killing Rapid Response Team members and injuring others during rescue operations.

Police recovered two AK-47 rifles, five magazines, and 22 rounds of ammunition at the scene. CP Bala reassured residents that the police remain committed to protecting lives and property while dismantling criminal networks across the state.
