The Concerned Citizens of Jibia (CCJ) in Katsina State have praised the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for his successful role in eliminating Abu Saleh, a notorious bandit leader. This action is seen as a major step forward in Nigeria’s battle against banditry in the northwest.

According to a statement from the CCJ, Matawalle’s leadership was key to this success. They highlighted his proactive approach to security, especially following his visit to Sokoto in September, which boosted military operations across the region. The CCJ commended Matawalle’s direct involvement in securing areas affected by banditry, a strategy that has made a clear difference.

The group emphasized Matawalle’s efforts in directing security forces across Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, and Niger, with the goal of eradicating bandit groups before the year’s end. The CCJ noted that about 80% of the region’s most notorious bandits have already been eliminated, thanks to these intensified efforts.

One of the standout aspects of Matawalle’s leadership is his hands-on approach. The CCJ praised his visits to high-risk areas, which have inspired soldiers and improved military operations.
