The Nigerian Army has started an investigation into reports of brutality involving some of its personnel in Abuja. This action follows a viral video that allegedly shows a senior army officer and two soldiers in an argument with a man and woman within the Abuja metropolis.
The Acting Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, ordered the investigation to find out what truly happened. According to Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Army’s spokesperson, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still unclear, but the Army is committed to uncovering the facts.
In a statement, Nwachukwu assured Nigerians that the Army remains dedicated to serving and protecting law-abiding citizens in line with the Nigerian Constitution. He also promised the public that the investigation will be thorough and fair.
This move aims to ensure transparency and accountability in the Nigerian Army’s operations while reinforcing trust among citizens.
