Boko Haram Kills Five Soldiers in Borno: Military Vows to Fight On

The Defence Headquarters has confirmed a tragic attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on troops stationed in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. The attack resulted in the death of five soldiers, while ten others were injured, and four are currently missing.

Major General Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that the soldiers put up a strong resistance, killing several terrorists and recovering their weapons. Unfortunately, the attackers managed to burn military equipment, including a gun truck, three TCVs, and an excavator.

The military quickly sent reinforcement teams, including air support, to secure the area and pursue the retreating terrorists. Despite this incident, the Defence Headquarters has assured Nigerians that such attacks will not weaken the resolve of the armed forces in their fight against terrorism and insurgency.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State expressed deep sympathy for the loss. In a statement delivered by the State Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Usman Tar, he condoled with the families of the deceased soldiers and praised the bravery of the military.

“This attack reminds us of the cruelty of Boko Haram. On behalf of the people of Borno, we send our heartfelt condolences to the armed forces and the families of those who lost their lives. May their souls rest in peace,” said Governor Zulum.

The Nigerian military remains steadfast in its mission to ensure peace and stability across the region, vowing that such challenges will only strengthen their resolve.
