Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo: Indicted Officials in Bobrisky Scandal Will Face Consequences

The Interior Minister of Nigeria, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has issued a strong warning to officials from the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) who are implicated in the scandal involving cross-dresser Bobrisky. Reports have surfaced that some NCoS officials allowed Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, to serve his prison sentence in a private apartment instead of a correctional facility.

Bobrisky was sentenced to six months in prison by a Federal High Court in Lagos for naira abuse. At a press conference in Abuja, where he marked one year in office, Dr. Tunji-Ojo assured the public that any officials found guilty in the ongoing investigation would face serious repercussions.

“We will not spare anybody, no matter how highly placed,” he stated firmly. He encouraged patience as the investigation unfolds but emphasized that no one would be shielded from accountability.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo also pointed out that the panel investigating the scandal consists of high-ranking individuals, highlighting the government’s commitment to a comprehensive inquiry. He expressed confidence that this investigation would help restore discipline and integrity within the Correctional Service.

The ongoing investigation into the Bobrisky apartment scandal aims to ensure that justice is served and to uphold the rule of law within Nigeria’s correctional system.
