Former EFCC Boss, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Loses His Mother

Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been struck with a personal tragedy following the death of his mother, Hajiya Hadiza Ahmed Bawa.

The sad news broke after Hajiya Hadiza passed away on Wednesday night in Abuja. Although the specific cause of her death has not yet been revealed, her passing has left a deep void in the Bawa family.

In a brief statement, Bawa expressed his sorrow, confirming the loss of his mother and noting that she is survived by ten children. He stated, “Yes, it is true I lost my mother,” during a telephone conversation with Daily Trust.

Arrangements are already underway to transport her remains to Kebbi State, where her funeral will take place later on Thursday, in accordance with Islamic traditions.

Abdulrasheed Bawa made history in February 2021 when he became the first civilian to lead the EFCC. However, he was suspended from his position by President Bola Tinubu in July of this year.

The loss of a parent is always a significant emotional challenge, and the former EFCC boss has requested privacy as he mourns this personal tragedy.
