In a bold and successful operation, soldiers from the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have taken down a dangerous criminal network operating in Karim Lamido Local Government Area (LGA) of Taraba State. The operation, which took place on 16 September 2024, resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, along with 42 rounds of ammunition.
The first suspect, Malam Ali Tambaya, was arrested in Wanzani village with an AK-47 rifle and 42 bullets. Tambaya admitted during questioning that he had bought the rifle five years ago from a man named Alhaji Dandi for ₦500,000. He also revealed that he purchased the bullets for ₦1,000 each. Tambaya further claimed that another suspect, Alhaji Kiwo, gave him 38 of the bullets to hold.
Acting on this information, troops quickly arrested Alhaji Dandi, while efforts are underway to capture Alhaji Kiwo.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, praised the troops for their swift action in dismantling the criminal group. He assured the public that the Brigade is fully committed to wiping out criminal elements from Taraba State and ensuring peace for its citizens. He also urged the community to continue providing accurate information to the military, as cooperation between civilians and security forces is vital for lasting peace.
