Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh recently shared that leaving her marriage to Olakunle Churchill was the best decision she ever made. While offering advice to a fellow single mother who messaged her privately on Instagram, Tonto explained how she coped with her situation.
A single mother reached out, asking how Tonto managed after her ex-husband left her and their son. However, Tonto corrected the woman, clarifying that it was she who chose to leave the marriage. She shared that the decision was made not only for her own well-being but for the sake of her child.
In her reply, Tonto wrote: “First, I was the one who left the marriage. I needed to get out of a tough situation for both myself and my child. It was the best decision I’ve ever made.”
She further encouraged the woman, telling her that she has the power to grow into the person she wants to be as long as she focuses on personal growth and invests in herself. Tonto emphasized the importance of drawing strength from God and advised mothers to keep family matters private.
Reflecting on her journey, Tonto mentioned that love has been her greatest teacher and that she lets God take control. She also shared this message publicly on her Instagram page, reminding single mothers that there’s no set guide to navigating their experiences.
Tonto Dikeh’s marriage to Olakunle Churchill ended in 2017 due to issues of infidelity and domestic violence. The couple has one son from the marriage, but despite their divorce, they continue to have public disagreements. Tonto has accused Churchill of being absent in their child’s life, while Churchill claims that Tonto has denied him access to their son.
