Cristiano Ronaldo made a powerful return to club football, proving once again why he’s one of the best in the game. After a disappointing end to Euro 2024 with Portugal, Ronaldo got back into the groove with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final against Al-Taawoun.
Ronaldo wasted no time making an impact. Just eight minutes into the match, he lightly touched the ball to assist Ayman Yahya, who scored the opening goal after Sadio Mane’s strong run down the left wing. Ronaldo’s quick thinking and presence on the field set the tone for the rest of the match.
Al-Taawoun had a few opportunities to equalize, but Al-Nassr’s Brazilian goalkeeper, Bento, made several key saves to keep the lead intact. Before halftime, Ronaldo nearly helped Mane score again, but the Al-Taawoun goalkeeper, Mailson Santos, was up to the challenge.
In the second half, Ronaldo finally got his goal. Yahya worked hard on the right wing, sending the ball to right-back Sultan Al-Ghannam, who then found Ronaldo in the perfect spot. With his usual precision, Ronaldo scored Al-Nassr’s second goal of the night in the 57th minute. He came close to scoring a second goal later in the match, but the ball hit the post.
This strong performance shows that Ronaldo is ready to lead Al-Nassr to more success this season, starting with their victory in the Saudi Super Cup semi-final. With Ronaldo in top form, more silverware could be on the horizon for the Knights of Najd.
